The Phoenix Gang Key is a discontinued quest item that played a role in the Shield of Arrav. It was used by Phoenix Gang members to be able to enter their hideout in Varrock. In the early days players would have obtained two keys from Straven, instead of one after a silent update. It is possible that the item was no longer obtainable in a rework of the quest that occurred between 10 May and 11 June 2001.

It is very likely the key was discontinued due to Black Arm Gang members infiltrating the headquarters, since non-tradeable items did not exist at the time of its release.
