The book, titled The Shield of Arrav, is an item obtained during the Shield of Arrav quest. It is found by searching book shelves in the Varrock Palace library after asking Reldo for a quest to go on.
Synopsis
[edit | edit source]The book tells the story of the Shield of Arrav, which belonged to a Hero of the 4th age. For 150 years it had safely been displayed in the Varrock Museum, but in the year 143 of the 5th age, the Phoenix gang had forced their entry to the museum and stole the prized artifact. The book also describes the gang as having become "the most powerful crime gang in Varrock". It also describes the reward set by the current King of Varrock's ancestor, plus the fact that the reward has never been claimed and the shield has still never been returned.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- This is the only item missing an examine in Runescape Classic. Prior to 24 December 2001, the examine text was simply "na".
- Since the item did not have an examine that could be seen by players, its unofficial one became known as "The Shield of Arrav by A R Wright."
- An older transcript of the book that includes retconned information is available on the transcript page. The text may have been reduced in order to better fit in the in-game message log.
