Thomas Woode (also known as Mod Tom to players) was an artist and content developer at Jagex, the first new developer employed in the content team in 2002. He worked on several quests in RuneScape Classic, including the Plague City trilogy.[1]
Originally, Tom applied to work on graphics at Jagex. Since another graphics artist was hired instead, Constant Tedder suggested that he work on content instead. Regardless, Tom was given creative freedom to do the graphics for his own areas. Paul Gower was somewhat crestfallen that Tom eventually moved to the graphics team, as he saw him as a good content developer.[2] Aside from RuneScape, he also has an art credit on Asphalt Overdrive.

[edit | edit source]Trivia
[edit | edit source]- While the idea of a tree top village was present in the early planning documents for RuneScape (and was possibly even planned for DeviousMUD), Andrew Gower believed it would be impossible to implement in the RuneScape Classic game engine. This led to him being "very impressed" when Thomas Woode successfully implemented the Tree Gnome Village.[5]
