John Spain was a 2D/3D graphics artist and animator[1] active on Usenet in the early 2000s.
He was hired as a freelancer by Andrew Gower in 2000 to draw many early RuneScape Classic monster sprites after Andrew posted an open call on Usenet for the dragon, giant rat, giant spider (eventually done by Gill Gower), skeleton, and the ghost.[2][3]
