Elemental runes
Elemental-runes are four types of rune, and at least one of them is used to cast every spell in the magic spellbook. They are the most basic type of rune and represent each of the four ancient elements: earth, air, water, and fire. Their use in spells binds an element to the spell being cast in order to increase the spells efficiency in damage and accuracy, depending on the foe. Certain monsters are weaker to various elements. The player can use one of the elemental staves to negate the usage of a single type of elemental rune.
They can be obtained from drops from many monsters such as darkwizards, chaos druids or hobgoblins. They can also be acquired by trading with other players. They are also sold at various shops across Gielinor, including the Magic Guild Shop in Yanille and Betty's Magic Emporium in Port Sarim.
