Magic bonus and failing spells[edit | edit source]

Based on the data above, the magic bonus probably doesn't increase the damage spells can deal. However, does the magic bonus matter in the fail chance of spells? And if it does, how does this work? Let's gather an outline and data.

Outline:

  • In OSRS, magic attack bonus acts on stage 1 in [1].
  • In OSRS, the magic accuracy formula is as follows: (magic level after pray boost + 8) * (magic attack bonus + 64) [2]
  • Thus, in OSRS, higher-level spells are equally accurate as lower-leveled spells.
  • Thus, in OSRS, a negative mage bonus of 64 guarantees a splash of ANY spell.
  • In RSC, people will stop failing a spell when they're about 10 levels higher as per Magic#Spells
