Messenger pigeons is a quest item obtained during the Biohazard quest. The pigeons are released as an attempt to distract the watchtower guards, allowing the player to climb over the wall into West Ardougne.
Players who attempt to release the pigeons in the wrong location or before using Bird feed on the Watch tower will receive the following messages:
"you open the cage
the pigeons don't want to leave"
When players release the birds during the quest they get the messages:
"the pigeons fly towards the watch tower
they begin pecking at the bird feed
the mourners are frantically trying to scare the pigeons away"
