Guide is a discontinued NPC in RuneScape Classic, whose purpose was to provide help to newly created players. He was found just outside of Lumbridge castle, so he could be one of the first points of contact for new players or those that kept dying. Topics the Guide would have addressed included places to go, what quests were and why they should be completed, how to become a better warrior, and how to interact with other players and non-player characters. He was around Runescape for about one year before being discontinued and later on replaced with the Guides that appears at Tutorial Island.

Due to his appearance looking very closely to that of a regular (and new) player, he would often have been unnoticed to the point few players recall him.

Trivia

• There is a female variant of the Lumbridge Guide, but did not make it into the game. This was likely due to how infrequently players asked the Guide for assistance.
