2016 in RuneScape Classic:
- On 11 January 2016, RuneScape Classic was temporarily re-opened for subscribing RuneScape 2 members, as part of RuneScape's 15th anniversary celebration. If players accessed RSC during the two-month period by logging into a Classic server, their account became "classic enabled", meaning they would have the privilege to continue playing RSC after the re-opening was over. Even if a player's membership lapsed, they would be permanently "classic enabled" and could access the Classic servers when their pay-to-play membership was active.
- 14 March - The sign up window for RuneScape Classic has been extended until the end of 2016 due to popular demand.[source needed]
- 10 October - The RuneScape Classic client was updated for the last time, to version 235. The update just renewed some certificates and didn't affect anything in-game.
